Types of Canadian Authorities

CVOR/ NSC

The registration system for drivers of commercial motor vehicles is called CVOR. This system’s objective is to keep an eye on the security of commercial vehicles and eliminate risky operators from the road. Even though all pickup trucks are regarded as commercial motor vehicles under the Highway Traffic Act, a pickup truck used for business and not for personal use only requires a Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) certificate if its registered gross weight (RGW) exceeds 4,500 kg.

IFTA (International Fuel Tax Agreement)

An agreement between several jurisdictions, primarily in North America, known as the International gasoline Tax Agreement (IFTA) makes it easier for carriers that operate in numerous states or provinces to report and pay gasoline taxes. Carriers submit a single fuel tax report to their home jurisdiction, which uses the miles traveled and fuel spent in other jurisdictions to determine the amount of taxes owing or credited. This guarantees equitable tax allocation while saving time and money.

IRP Plates

IRP Plates: According to an agreement between some Canadian provinces and U.S. states, commercial vehicle registration fees are distributed according to the total distance driven in each location.
